So apparently I should’ve waited until today to make my post about the Neo Geo stuff since most of the outstanding items I mentioned yesterday have suddenly appeared today in the mail, and with fun overseas Christmas stamps on the packaging to boot! Normally I wouldn’t make an entirely separate post about this, but the supergun we received is so interesting and fun to look at, you’ll understand why I wanted you all to see it fresh in a new post rather than editing the old one and risk you all missing it.
The manufacturers of this particular board added some really cute touches in the form of various pixel art characters, so to a layman like me, the supergun is not just another boring board to stare at while my boyfriend gushes on about all the things he wants to do next with it. I found at least six different pixel art characters here. I’m not sure which games all of them are from, but if you have any idea, please let me know!
We also received the Neo Geo to Sega Genesis controller converters today as well. These plug in directly to the left side of the board shown in the above photo and allow for a regular Sega Genesis controller to be used to play the games. Pretty neat!
The only thing we are missing is the SCART cable, which should arrive sometime later this month. In the meantime, my boyfriend has an opportunity to figure out how he wants to encase the supergun. He’s thinking clear plexiglass so that we will still be able to see all the cuteness on the board itself!
That’s all for now. I hope you’re all staying warm in this progressively colder weather.
Thanks for reading!

The ‘supergun’ board does look snazzy! I turned our coffee table into a retro arcade unit (sort of a cocktail unit – there’s a picture on Twitter somewhere) but I didn’t come across the supergun when I was researching. Think I might have gone down that route if I had known about it!

That’s pretty neat that you have skills like that. If not for my boyfriend, I’d have no idea about how much of this stuff works (I say “know” lightly.) I will commence digging on Twitter sooner than later!

I have a college diploma in electronics so I loved all the circuit board pictures in this post. It reminded me of soldering things in class, lol. It’s definitely a cute touch having the pixel characters on the board. 🙂

That’s awesome! I always wish I had more practical skills like that. They’re really handy to have! I’m learning a bit from my boyfriend but there’s nothing quite like doing things yourself.

Whoa! This is pretty neat! I like how playful it is. I think I see a ghost from Pac-Man, Ryu (or Ken) shooting a Hadouken from Street Fighter, and characters from the Sheriff NES game.

I love the pixels on the board! I’m so wary of boards now, a remnant from childhood when I was zapped by an NES that had the cover taken off when it became harder to get the games to work hehe. The “Nintendo power” joke was made.
Winter has arrived where I am, too. Teens and lower *brrr*

I got a zap from a Christmas tree once, so I understand the feeling you have! As awful as a shock is, the Nintendo Power joke is pretty hilarious!
We’re currently sitting at -10 Celsius today, and we got 10 cm of snow overnight. I can’t wait for spring!

It will never get old! I’ll be able to tell that my grandchildren if I have any ;p
It was in the teens the last part of this week, but now it’s like 60 degrees. What the hell? The cold sna was due to the polar vortex or something like that. Frankly, polar vortex sounds like a special move from Shiva.

If this cold weather was from Shiva, I’d accept that, but not when it’s just pure tomfoolery!!

Neat-o. I look forward to your Neo Geo streams. 😀
As for characters, I see a pirate variant of a ghost from “Pac Man”. To his left, there Tiki the Kiwi from “New Zealand Story”. Above Tiki, and slightly to the left are what looks like a prisoner in need of rescue & a chopper, both from “Choplifter”
I have no idea who the characters above “Player 2 Controller” are.
Last but not least there’s Ryu from Street Fighter 2 shooting a hadouken If you look closely, you can see a bit of his bandana sticking out of the back of his head. Though did they REALLY need to align a hole in board with his groin?
